Roy Warden Update
As I walked in the César Chávez march yesterday, I wondered where the counter-protests were. Maybe they are enjoined from going South of 22nd St or something. In particular, I wondered where Roy Warden was. You know, he talks so tough all the time and I wondered if he would stage one of his famous flag burnings if he had to face down hundreds of marchers. He wasn’t around.
Well, it turns out, he was otherwise occupied.
I don’t know why the man was out in the first place. He had already been sentenced to probation, but he bragged about not following it. Despite the man’s proclivity for violence, it seemed as though the city attorney’s office didn’t take his actions seriously. This arrest only came after three mondays of protests in front of the main library downtown and numerous threats he made to bystanders. How was this not a violation of his probation?
On this blog, he bragged about packing a glock and wanting to do something to the judge that sentenced him. This was so obviously a violation of his probation, but when I contacted the city attorney’s office about this, they were not even interested enough to give me a call back.
I realize that in the big scheme of crime in Tucson, Warden is rather minor. But when the system lets him get away with this sort of thing over and over again, it signals other yahoos that it is okay to settle their political disputes through violence and intimidation.

Hey Doofus:
How can you Left Wingers march for Chavez and spit in his face at the same time? Zapata is my hero and, when it comes to Illegal Aliens breaking into America, Chavez stands in the circle next to me.
Chavez formed a labor union to protect poor Americans (mostly Hispanic) from being exploited by the large corporate growers in California.
Chavez spoke out against Illegal Immigration, because he knew greedy growers would hire cheaper Mexican labor and break the back of his union.
Chavez also patroled the desert and turned Illegals into the border patrol, but of course you Liers of the Left Wing conveniently forget about that.
You support Chavez not because you believe in the content of his character or because you support his ideals: You support Chavez because his skin is brown.
That makes you a racist and a liar.

Rogelio, not only are you a historical revisionist, you’re a liar.
Chávez did not rail against undocumented immigrants. He strongly and rightfully criticized growers who exploited undocumented immigrants to break the strike. Chávez clearly understood the predicament of the undocumented; he sympathized with them since he worked alongside them in the fields. But he pointed out the farce of our immigration laws that turn a blind eye to using undocumented immigrants only to spit them out when they were no longer needed.
Moreover, your adoption of Mexican revolutionaries is hilarious and is a distortion of what they did and what you do.
You are a racist. You contribute nothing to the debate, but only pose a direct danger to the community.
