Um, Okay
Guy I talked to the other day suggested that Elaine Richardson would be an excellent candidate for mayor. I don’t know if this is anything resembling a “draft” or even if she’d be the least bit interested. I’m throwing it out there because, well, he’s a talker and I can’t be the only one he’s said this to.
Richardson is a small buisiness owner who was in the state legislature during the 1990’s and built an impressive record on domestic violence issues. She also had a strong environmental record, which for some reason she turned her back on when she made a run for congress in 2002. She’s spent the last few years heading up the state’s Department of Real Estate and recently stepped down from that job.
I don’t think she’d be too interested. She was one of the people that encouraged Daniel Patterson (who ran against her for State Senate) to put his name up as a replacement for Steve Leal if he had decided to run for mayor. However, she’s been largely out of active involvement with politics for a long time.
