The new story going around in legal circles is that Paul Charlton was fired not for investigating Rick Renzi, but instead for the leak of the investigation just weeks before the election.
Not that I would know anything about that.
The story made the Washington Post, but was ignored by our state’s paper of record. Well, worse than ignored, a piece was run dismissing the whole thing as politics. (CORRECTION)
Say, anyone remember when all of us were dismissing Charlton as a water carrier for the anti-immigration crowd when he pursued the stupid and ultimately unsuccessful prosecution of Shanti Sellz and Daniel Strauss?

If the average person knew how incestuous the press and public relations fields are, I sure they would be shocked. It ain’t pretty.

Quite a few political reporters for The Arizona Republic have gone on to work for large public relations firms at much higher pay. Biting the hand that may someday feed you may be a career limiting move.
