The Lion Shall Lie Down With the Lamb, and Romley Shall Work for Goddard
Here’s a strange story: former Maricopa County Attorney Rick Romley has apparently started doing work for Attorney General Terry Goddard.
This all started when Romley was handling the corruption case of Pinal County Manager Stanley Griffis and used space in the Attorney General’s office. Goddard has decided to make the arrangement a little more formal, and contract Romley to work some cases for him. By the way, despite what has been said on Sonoran Alliance, Romley has not been hired as a lobbyist. Folks close to Goddard’s office are careful to say that he has not been “hired” but instead will be on contract.
There is an interesting rub here. Romley was very supportive of his protege, Andrew Thomas, when he ran to replace him as Maricopa County Attorney. Now that he has been elected, Thomas’s rhetoric has been along the lines of “I have to do this because the bozo that was in this office before hadn’t done jack.” Needless to say, that has infuriated Romley. Thomas has also been very critical of Goddard’s office. Did this ”shared enemy” encourage Romley and Goddard to work together? Will this pact just anger Thomas further?

We can only hope it angers Thomas further, I can’t stand that prick. Esp. the recent commercials where he is giving tips on being a parent…nothing makes my day more than watching the righteous Andrew Thomas instructing us on how to be a great parent.

Why does this have to be a political story? Romley is no longer an elected official, he’s just a lawyer. Goddard may have just been looking for someone who is competent and has political experience to work on a corruption probe.
If you’re trying to hire the best person to do a job then I’m not sure whether that person is a Democrat or a Republican would be relevant to how well they will perform the job, and apparently that is how Terry Goddard sees it.

Glad to hear it. Romley showed the right stuff in going after the Catholic Church in the early days of the pedophilia scandal. I’ve wondered since then if he hasn’t been ostracized from the GOP because of it. Come on over, Rick, the water is fine!
