Boykins Out
What did I tell you guys when I left last week? I said, don’t do any politicking while I’m gone. And what did you go and do? Y’all allowed developments to happen that I couldn’t blog about because I was gone.
I can’t trust any of you.
Last week, Clarence Boykins let people know that he is no longer interested in running in the Ward 2 primary. As of Friday, his name was “Xed” off of the official list that the City Clerk publishes. Boykins let Rodney Glassman know that he is endorsing his candidacy, and now Boykins is on Glassman’s lengthy supporter list.
The current field in the Ward 2 Democratic Primary is Glassman, plus frequent fixture at City Council hearings Robert Reus. Lori Oien is the only Republican to have made any official moves to run.

Clarence Boykins is a fine person. Great also that he endorsed Rodney Glassman’s campaign.
Rodney Glassman is still taking $20 checks for his run for office. That means he has a lot of money to raise and he has committed to doing it in very small increments. Give him some support.
There is no question that there will be some conservative, business support flowing into Ms. Orien’s campaign. I have already seen a plug for her on http://www.sonoranalliance.com, a conservative blog.
Remember also that it will be a city wide election after the primary as the Alliance reminds us. No matter how big the Democratic registration is, this is an offyear election and Republican turnout (as a percentage) is always much higher.
