No, Not That One Either
Okay, my mistake. The Luis Armando Gonzales that filed to run for city council in Ward 1 is not the one that has made numerous attempts to return to public office since an ill-considered try to take out Mo Udall in a Democratic primary back in 1986. The Luis Armando Gonzales that filed is Luis Armando Gonzales Junior.
An easy error to make. I only checked the address, and it matched the one his father listed when he ran for congress back in 2002.
This isn’t the younger Gonzales’s first foray into local politics. Just last year he served as an aide of sorts to Republican candidate for congress, Ron Drake. Yes, this man’s only previous political activity was on behalf of a Republican (just last year!), but now he wants the Democratic party nomination. Excuse us if we don’t bow down in worship, Luis. His working for Drake was probably driven more by his father’s dislike of Raúl Grijalva rather than any liking of Drake or any partisan considerations.
Actually, saying he “worked” for Drake might be too strong. His chief duty seemed to be harrasing local restaurant owners to get dirt on Grijalva. In any event, not much of a political apprenticeship, especially when you are running in a Democratic primary on Grijalva’s turf.

You had it right the first time, it is Luis senior who pulled papers not junior (from my understanding Luis Jr. is a registered Republican.)
Also no one affiliated with the Gonzales’s has ever been into the Silver Saddle harassing the staff. That was a shot by the Drake campaign to get Congressman Grijalva to agree to debate, who in Tucson does not know that Congressman Grijalva frequents the Saddle (great food). The Rodriguez’s and the Alva’s are good friends of the Gonzales’s in fact all the Gonzales children have worked for the Saddle as waitresses, bus boy, and hostess’s as they were going through high school.
easy error to make.

Who cares! RRR has never let the truth get in the way of trashtalking anyone. If he finds out that it is the baseball player tomorrow, he will find a way to trash him too. It makes me thing that RRR is less concerned with truth than bad mouthing people. Very childish.
