That Liberal Media…

This morning’s Arizona Republic features an article about Kyrsten Sinema.  The article had some silly aspects, such as Warde Nichols saying that Sinema is out of touch and lets her emotions guide her rather than doing things at an “intellectual level.” Geez, Nichols, have you looked at your own caucus? Check out the who actually comes out on top of the polls during the next standoff the lege has with the Governor and tell me who is out of touch. As for doing things at an “intellectual level”, I’ve seen some of the “facts” that some of your colleagues give in debates so I’m not sure how many folks in the Republican caucus can even spell “intellectual.” Pot, meet kettle.

The article goes on to detail Sinema’s radicalism.  One example is her opposition to the death penalty, which puts her in league with notable communists like Arizona’s Catholic Bishops and former Illinois Republican Governor George Ryan.  Also, the article notes that Sinema is pushing for bills calling for energy conservation. Oh, when will this trotskyite freak show end?

Despite all of this, the article is rather balanced, even with Pete Rios’s cheap shots (a guy who has tried to undermine his own caucus is decrying Sinema’s supposed ineffectiveness. I don’t even know what to do with that.) But, the Plugged In blog features a link to the article and a banner with Sinema’s face saying “TOO LIBERAL?” that looks straight out of a Republican hit-piece. Geez, is Nathan Sproul doing your graphics now? Are those “liberal Republic” shots from Greg Patterson starting to hurt?

So, I take it that the next time we see a mention of Karen Johnson or Ron Gould, we’ll see an alarmist banner reading “TOO CONSERVATIVE,” right?

  • Man, conservatives are so whiny. When everyone was coming down on Pearce for being a blatent racist, they were acting like little kids with their GameBoys taken away– how dare anyone point out radicalism in their camp, it’s just unconscionable! Especially since they’re supposed to be the party of tough manly men.

And I suspect the reason why Sinema is so “ineffective” is that she’s spent her entire time in the Leg in the minority. What was the statistic– of all the bills in the house, only 1% of those will be written by Dems because they keep getting killed in committee or the chairs refuse to hear them.

  • I catch your drift, but I wouldn’t use George Ryan as an example of anything. He’s one of several ex-GOP Governors around the country who are now convicted felons.
