But, Will We Be Drafting Barbara and Jenna?

The Chairman-designee of the Powerful House Ways and Means Committee, Charles Rangel, says he will introduce legislation to re-instate the draft. Since I’m 36 years old now, I am all for this.

I will be okay with it if we have women in the draft too. No reason why us women cannot blow the crap out of enemies.

I’ve got a 16 1/2-year-old son.
This idea is dumber than George W. Bush after a five-day drunk.

Rengel’s rationale is our current all-volunteer setup means the vast majority of the armed forces comes from the ranks of the poor.
He seems to feel if there is a draft, and the children of the wealthy and of legislators could end up being drafted, then congress will be less likely to back entering into unnecessary wars.
I don’t really agree - those folks will always find _some_ way out if they need to., Look and Bush the younger vis-a-vis Vietnam.

I agree with SIROCCO. The rich will find a way out of it. And there will be a large mass of illegal immigration going INTO Mexico. Perhaps this is the real reason for building the fence.
