Simon Ahead?
I know I am the last to put this up, but I wasn’t sure how true it was.
The website Majority Watch has posted a poll showing Ellen Simon ahead of Rick Renzi 50-46. They also posted some crosstabs. Unfortunately, the tabs’s geographic breakdown seems a bit ham handed, with Graham and Greenlee Counties lumped in with Flagstaff and the Navajo nation. This makes it harder to see how she’s doing in the more reliably Democratic areas compared to the Republican areas.
But, I’ll take it anyway. Who the heck saw this coming? Not my part of the state, so I have an excuse.

“Who the heck saw this coming?”
Exactly. If these numbers are accurrate it means a tidal wave is coming…seriously. In a midterm election, a race like the open 8th or the Mitchell-Hayworth race might be competitive…good candidates, enough money for the challenger. However, when these types of numbers show up in what are “safe” Republican districts it means HUGE trouble for Republicans.
Republicans are not energized and many will not turn out in a midterm race where turnout is lower anyway. Democrats are energized (remember my statements last spring about them crawling over class to vote?).
The potential effect of this is pick ups in races that people never thought would turn. It could also dip very very deeply into local races as well. So watch out and watch those legislative races.

I would like to point out that I think that they Failed to call Dixie Zummwalt. I mean there is really no better authority on Greenley county politics than Dixie.
