They Like Her So Much, They Endorsed Her Twice!
A correspondent wrote me to point out something a bit odd about Patty Weiss’s list of endorsements. For obvious reasons, this person’s name cannot be known at this time.

Okay, for obvious reasons, it isn’t.
If you go to Weiss’s web page, there is a hefty list of endorsements by many members of the community (as well as members of her staff, I hope they endorse her…). The list also includes several people named Weiss and Gelenberg. Does that count? I guess she wants to not run into the problem that Fred Ronstadt ran into and show us that her family does, in fact, support her.
The list also includes Celinda Lake. Celinda Lake? That is her Washington based pollster. I suppose it would have been embarasing if she paid Lake all that money to do her polling and then Lake went and endorsed Francine Schacter.
Some of Patty’s supporters are so enthused about her candidacy that they have endorsed her twice. For example: former reporter Ann-Eve Pedersen is listed twice, under different spellings even! Author and part-time Tucsonan Andrew Greeley is also an ethusiastic supporter, listed as Andrew Greeley and Fr. Andrew Greeley. Former Shoebomb lead singer Melissa Manas is so supportive that she also wanted to be named twice. My brother likes to brag about the guys from Calexico being constituents, but do you see them listing their names twice?
I look over Jeff Latas’s and Gabrielle Giffords’s lists and I see not one name repeated. I don’t see how either one of them expect to win the race if their supporters aren’t enthusiastic enough to endorse them twice. They ought to just quit now.

Oh, come on. Get a grip. Both Latas and Giffords had names repeated, and have staff members listed. Why are you attacking Weiss llike some school girl catfight? How childish.
She just got that page up and likely hasn’t had time to skim for errors. At least she actually asked permission to post people’s names and did not just post whoever donated like the Latas campaign did. Latas had Barbara Tellman’s name listed twice for nearly 4 months and you never mentioned that.
Celinda Lake likely donated after she saw the polling that Patty was in the lead. First she donated to Giffords. Nothing wrong with that. I have donated to three campaigns myself because I want them all to be viable until I decide who it is I want to support.

I went through Weiss’ list. Out of 833 supporters listed, 16 are duplicate. It looks like a database issue. When the supporter filled out the volunteer form if you fill it out slightly differently it can create two entries. Either that or when they donated. Easy mistke for the webmaster not to catch it. Deleting the duplicates, she still has 817 supporters listed, more than any other candidate that I am aware of.
I donated to her campaign and she was classy enough NOT to list me as a supporter so I imagine she has even more that are donating or thinking of endorsing that aren’t even listed.
She also has the best website of any candidate. Latas’ site is not bad but Giffords and all the Republican ones have no meat on them. Shacter doesn’t even use complete sentences in her bio section which makes her look stupid. I don’t imagine she will have too many educators and English instructors endorse her. She writes on her website like she campaigns, not much enthusiasm or focus.

This is the kind of thing people talk about when they’re worried about their candidate or when there just isn’t anything bad to say about people like Latas and Weiss.

Geez louise people, he is just joking around. *rolls eyes* Ted likes to make jokes, and be snarky. Why else would this blog be so freaking popular? This is free publicity for each campaign, you really think the candidates are going to complain he was teasing them?

Yes - two Andrew Greeley’s - the priest/author and the PR consultant who’s a full-time Tucsonan.
Kind of funny that Melissa Manas would be listed twice since she is Patty’s webmaster.

Lars Pederson is also listed up at the top with a bio, and then again in the listing.

But did you see how both Giffords and Latas have the same person endorsing them? (Jorge Garcia, unless they have corected this since I last viewed the websites)
